Love for aviation
As part of the undergraduate curriculum at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), SQ learnt to fly and attained his private pilot's license. He also discovered his interest in aviation human factors, because no child dreams of becoming a human factors professional when they grow up.
Research mentors
As he ventured deeper down the rabbit hole, he was blessed with the guidance and wisdom of Prof. Chris Wickens and Prof. Martin Helander. After getting a B.Sc. in Psychology from UIUC, SQ earned his Ph.D. in Systems Engineering & Management from Nanyang Technological University,
First in Singapore
His good luck continued, when Dr. Lim Tiek-Whai had the foresight to introduce human factors to the local healthcare scene. SQ became the first human factors professional embedded in Singapore's healthcare system.
Passion for safety
Since receiving tutorage of Dr. Lim TW and Prof. Yoel Donchin, SQ has participated in hundreds of safety investigations as well as quality and innovation projects over the years.
